Location: Scottsdale, Arizona (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)Hybrid/Remote flexibility as needed
Salary Range: $98,000–$135,000 (depending on experience)

This company is a solutions-focused, full-service architecture and project management firm based in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. We help clients succeed through innovative design, technical expertise, and a passion for solving complex challenges.
Our work spans medical and healthcare facilities, commercial, retail, industrial, and residential developments across Arizona. Beyond traditional architecture, we collaborate with owners, builders, developers, investors, zoning attorneys, and land-use planners to deliver high-impact, successful projects.
Role Overview:
Seeking a collaborative, technically proficient, and visionary Director of Architecture to lead our architectural team. This senior leadership role focuses on delivering high-quality design and technical execution while fostering a growth-oriented, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate is a mentor and team player who gains respect through guidance and example, thrives on delivering exceptional service and end products, and values recognition for their contributions.
The Director of Architecture will oversee all architectural functions, including design, production, project management, mentorship, and quality control, while setting firm-wide architectural standards and supporting the professional development of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentorship & Professional Development

Serve as a trusted mentor and leader, fostering career growth and skill enhancement across the team.

Develop and implement structured mentorship programs, guiding junior staff and empowering emerging leaders.

Encourage professional development, licensure, and continuing education

Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful team culture
Technical Leadership & Best Practices

Provide guidance on building materials, construction methods, and emerging architectural technologies.

Implement industry best practices and ensure technical excellence across all projects.

Oversee quality control, including life safety and code reviews, and coordinate consultant documents with architectural drawings.
Firmwide Architectural Standards & Quality Control

Establish, maintain, and enforce quality control standards to ensure consistency and excellence

Lead review of construction documents and design documentation

Standardize project tracking and documentation using tools such as Monograph
-
Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and internal best practices
Project Oversight & Coordination

Provide high-level oversight and guidance for multiple architectural projects from concept through completion

Manage and support production teams, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and technical precision

Collaborate with leadership on project planning, workload management, and team scheduling

Communicate effectively with clients, owners, general contractors, and consultants regarding technical issues
Strategic Planning & Firm Growth

Contribute to long-term strategic goals for architectural practice.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, innovation, and firm-wide processes.

Support the firm’s market growth through exceptional architectural services.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Represent architectural expertise in client meetings, presentations, and public engagements

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners

Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and develop tailored solutions
Minimum Requirements:

Licensed Architect in Arizona
-
Proficiency in BIM software, especially Revit, with a commitment to fostering team skill development

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational and leadership abilities
Additional Role Details:

Lead projects independently while mentoring and managing production team members

Support project planning and team workload management in collaboration with firm leadership

Address technical and construction document-related issues with ownership and contractors

Assist business development efforts as needed, though the primary focus is on architectural leadership
