Job Overview

Are you an experienced educational environment strategist with experience, or at least a strong interest, in the project’s stakeholder engagement or community engagement phase, with at least three years of experience in education projects (K-12 & higher ed) and project expertise? In this role, you will be crucial in transforming educational landscapes by managing multiple architectural, interior design, and planning projects simultaneously as an Education Environment Strategist / Planner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture required
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as an architectural designer and/or educational space planner.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Research: Direct and gather data, performing senior-level research and strategic analysis on factors affecting learning environments (e.g., student learning styles, organizational culture, paradigm shifts). Analyze the impact of implemented changes on client sites.
  • Design and Technical Guidance: Initiate, develop, review, direct, and guide design and technical staff to develop solutions based on project scope.
  • Project Work Plan Management: Manage the project work plan, ensuring adherence to the budget by working closely with the Project Manager and/or client to address potential budget variances.
  • Workplace Strategies Research: Continuously review and conduct ongoing research on workplace strategies, write papers on strategy topics, and make public presentations.
  • Design Staff Guidance: Guide to design staff on implementing learning environment strategies in selecting furniture and fixtures and developing space plans.
  • Field Survey Support: Occasionally assist with field surveys in unusual circumstances.
  • Budget Management: Manage the Design Strategy/Planning/Post-Occupancy budget, ensuring adherence and immediately informing the PM and/or client of any potential variances.
  • Business Development Support: Work with leaders and Business Development staff to identify opportunities to sell strategy services to existing and potential clients, assisting in writing proposals and making client presentations.
  • Staff Mentorship: Manage and mentor local Strategies staff, overseeing tasks and providing feedback on work products.
  • Client Relationship Management: Oversee client interface and lead the maintenance and fostering of client relationships.
  • Strategy Growth Support: Support the Senior Director of Strategy in developing and implementing strategy growth and service expansion in the market.
  • Practice Development Participation: Actively contribute to practice development teams and initiatives, leading multiple key initiatives.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute significantly to thought leadership through available channels (e.g., blog posts, white papers, speaking engagements, podcasts).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Design Process Expertise: Working knowledge of the major phases of the design process.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Expertise in strategy services.
  • Documentation and Observation Skills: Advanced documentation and field observational skills.
  • Consulting Methodologies: Experience and understanding of consulting methodologies and practices.
  • Communication Skills: Extensive verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Presentation and Graphic Communication: Ability to direct presentation and graphic communication requirements.
  • Leadership and Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through direct authority and subject matter expertise.
  • Budget Management: Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and intermediate skills in the MS Office Suite.

Comprehensive Benefits: You’ll receive a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 and comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage for you and your family. We also offer a 401K plan with a firm contribution.
Office Environment: Our main headquarters is downtown Syracuse, surrounded by historic charm and modern amenities. It is a LEED Silver office with beautiful city views and various workspaces.
This is a remote/hybrid position.
