Company Description: PHD is an architecture firm that provides services to hospitals and schools, helping to improve their existing infrastructure. We design spaces that our clients can take ownership of and that best suits their clientele.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER  ROLE

Role Starting Pay: $40,000 – $60,000 salary

Role Location:Pleasanton, CA

Role Purpose: To support the Project Manager with drafting and consultant coordination.

Role Description:

You will be collaborating with senior architects and project managers to translate conceptual designs into detailed construction drawings. You will be the person ensuring drawings comply with relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and other project-specific requirements.

This will require you to work closely with external consultants such as structural engineers, MEP (mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineers, and other specialists to integrate their input into the architectural design. Part of your responsibility is to facilitate communication between various project stakeholders, ensuring alignment and integration of design elements. We pride ourselves in being good listeners and problem solvers for our clients. We help guide the users on different plans to bring their vision to life. You will review and incorporate consultant drawings and specifications into the overall project documentation.

Quality control is a high priority in our company, we are thorough in our documentation and coordination. You will be reviewing drawings and documents to identify and resolve discrepancies or conflicts. We maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy in all drafted materials. The project manager and Architect will also review your drawings and assist you in learning the PHD way. You will implement revisions and updates as necessary based on the feedback from the project manager, principal, and project stakeholders.

At PHD Architects we are a collaborative team. In your role you will actively participate in client and  team meetings, consultant coordination, and project reviews. We foster a positive and collaborative work environment, sharing ideas and contributing to the overall success of the project team.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant 3D modeling software.
Strong understanding of architectural principles and construction documentation.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and interface with external consultants.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
A proactive and positive attitude towards learning and professional development.

 

ADDITIONAL TOOLS AND SKILLS

Experience with Microsoft 365 Suite
Experience with Bluebeam
